The Competition
The 3rd FIPS-Mouche World Ladies Fly Fishing Championship was held in South Bohemia, Czechia, in May 2024.
The competition brought together top female fly anglers from various countries, with events taking place on the Vltava River and Lipno II reservoir.
France emerged as the winning team, securing the gold medal, while Spain and Australia took second and third place, respectively.
The South African team performed well, finishing in sixth place overall. One of the team members, Amy Tough, caught the largest fish of the event—an impressive 80 cm pike!
Organized by the Czech Angling Union, the championship featured diverse and challenging fishing locations designed to test a wide range of fly fishing techniques.
Beyond the competition, the event promoted international camaraderie and helped raise the profile of women's fly fishing globally.
